随着广播、电影、电视等电子大众媒介的出现，尤其是数字媒介的出现，口语传播在当今社会的公共传播中的重要性日益突显。在西方，口语传播是包括大众传播在内的“传播学”的重要组成部分，在中国，我们正努力把口语传播融入以大众传播为基本内容的“传播学”。作为口语传播教学与研究的先行者，厦门大学新闻传播学院主办这次学术研讨会，诚邀国内外传播学者欢聚厦门，探讨在数字化时代如何培养中国的大学生不仅会读书，还要会论辩；不仅善于人际沟通，更具有未来领导人需要的与公共沟通的能力。围绕这一主题，我们欢迎所有与传播学相关的论文，特别欢迎与口语传播理论、研究方法和教学实践相关的论文。我们期待在大陆最美丽的校园里，在厦门最美丽的季节里，与大家共同探讨数字化时代传播学教育和研究中的各种论题。

Speech Communication in Digital Era: Theory, Method and Pedagogy
The School of Journalism & Communication of Xiamen University announces a call for papers for speech communication conference to be held on December 22-23, 2012 at Xiamen, China. The theme “Speech Communication in Digital Era: Theory, Method and Pedagogy” encourages scholarship within traditional areas of western speech communication as well as research that integrates theory and teaching in the Chinese context.
With the development of electronic media, especially the digital media, the role of speech communication becomes ever more prominent in public communication in China. Unlike in the West, theory and practice of speech communication as means of civic-democratic engagement has just started to enter into the established communication arena in China, which used to be almost synonymous to “mass communication” only.
Xiamen University is one of the pioneers of speech communication research and teaching across in China. We believe that Chinese students need to learn rhetorical theories as well as public speaking skills in order to become qualified citizens and leaders in the future. We invite submission on all communication related subjects. Papers that reflect the conference theme are particularly welcome. Please submit an abstract of 300-500 words with the paper title, the names of all authors, and contact information before October 15, 2012. Notice of Acceptance will be informed before October 31, 2012.
